Monde on its way

it makes sense... Ford was talking about redesigning the taurus even when they brought it back as a rebadged 500.

If they do this, I know my next car is going to be a taurus.

So they are taking the sister car of the Contour and badging it a Taurus? Now no one will have a clue what we drive

yeah, it will add to the confusion.

However, this most recent form of the mondeo is quite bigger then the last gen, plus the fuel economy and engine/trannie options are a lot more diverse.

Oh man, I hope you can get it with an MTX here in the states

Don't be so sad. I drive an 06 Five Hundred, which is now the Taurus.

So... lets see I have a Europen designed car brought over and renamed and then under marketed... Then cancelled in 2000... Had to get a new car which was undermarketed as well... renamed in 2008 to the taurus... now the car I originally had is coming back to be renamed once more into the taurus...

HMMM...

Maybe ford is telling me to buy a taurus... But I drove a 07 one and it was a peice of crap. I was crying for my Five Hundred back, right after I pulled out of the lot. Sigh...

Screw the next generation Mondeo, I want to see the current gen here.
The news is encouraging, I will be persuaded to check it out if they indeed do that.

Looks like a Volvo.... which they will build in the states soon.
All I really want is a Fusion SVT. Please Ford? I love my MS6 but I really would love to see a Fusion.

that's because it is a volvo....

first off, ford has already tried to replace the taurus and failed.

second, that car is too small to be a taurus.

and lastly, pics of the new "super taurus" redesign with the 350hp v6 have already been released.

so yeah, the mondeo might come here, but certainly not as a taurus.

Have you looked at the actual article yet? The car pictured in the OPs link is the current Mondeo

Either way ford needs to fire EVERYONE who is working on the current american cars and just have the european side design them. While they have been making valiant efforts lately with the redesigned Mustang and F150 of a couple years ago.. their current cars are lacking. The new taurus looks like a cheapened version of the Five Hundred, while the focus looks like they took a step back. The Fusion is nice and the Edge is a gem.. Everything else seems dated.

Perhaps, but I have yet to talk to someone (and I work at the dealership) who owns a new Taurus or Sable that doesn't love it. They love the power of the 3.5, they love the looks, they love the quietness and smoothness, everything. I also know I see almost as many new Tauruses around as I do 500's, which isn't bad for a car still in it's first model year compared to a model that was out for what, 2-3 years?

For those wanting a tricked out Fusion..who knows. I know Ford does offer factory bodykits for the Fusion, Milan, MKZ, Edge and MKX now, maybe they'll do an enthusiast version of the cars, that would be pretty cool.

I would have loved to have that new 3.5L v6 in my 500 but i'm happy with what I have. I just prefer the 500's front end compared to the Taurus. The grill and headlights just don't fit that car. Just my 2 cents.

New Taurus

New Taurus

Guys, a new Taurus is already in the works and is coming out in 2010. The current Taurus as everyone knows is not a "new" Taurus. It's just a do over of the 500 with some reworked sheet metal, front/rear fascia details, different engine/tranny and modified subframe/suspension. Just google 2010 Taurus Spy Photo to see an actual "new" Taurus. It's a front/side view picture that was taken with a cell phone of a prototype at Ford's clay studio center. If you look hard enough you can even see some type of clay vehicle mock up in the background. I don't know anything about a new "super" Taurus that was called out. The drive trains for the vehicle are being "revamped" due to the current fuel crisis we are experiencing. It's a pretty sharp looking vehicle in my opinion and yes I think it somewhat resembles the Mondeo. I know someone who saw it in person and said the rear of the car maybe even looks better than the front....interesting I thought.

P.S. I may be biased as I work for Ford.

From inside the Ford "skunk works" dept. ....The Mondeo and Fusion will run it's course through the existing product run. The next generation will be built off a shared platform. Current names may or may not be kept.
