power loss (just want to confirm)

Ever sense it has gotten hotter outside, I have noticed, once the car gets up to full operating temperature, when I go past 4 grand, I can feel the secondaries open and the surge of power, then right around 5 grand, that power gain I felt seems to back off, however, the motor still "sounds" like the secondaries are still opened.

I feel like the issue lies within the IMRC box overheating, because one super hot day, I was doing a little spirited driving, and I lost the secondaries all together, no more rush of power, engine note didnt change at all after 4 grand. I also got an IMRC code from the computer, but haven't gotten that sense (about 3 week ago). When the motor is still running cold (right past the cold mark on the temp gauge) I get full power, motor feels alive. But right when I get up to full temp, I get this power loss issue right around 5 grand, the motor will continue to rev all the way up to redline, but I feel like I am actually waiting for it to rev up, its taking too long.

I was thinking that my IMRC box is overheating, and when it opens I get power, but then right after it opens, the box overheats and closes back down??? Can anybody explain this a little better for me? I know what the IMRC box does, I just dont know why it would close back up while still at WOT and above 4 grand.

I think I might relocate the box to a location that is cooler to see if it helps, but I just wanted some input on this issue.

My GF is having a similar problem on another car but I'm gonna replace her oxygen sensors and see if it helps with the sluggishness. Though you do seem set on the control box being the problem.

Damn that's a long post for something that you already know what it is.

Agreed. Just replace it already or do the how-to for it. That way you will stop complaining about your slow car feeling even more slower:laugh:

well, I just figured it out.

It had nothing to do with the secondaries... I also figured out my CEL, I kept getting random codes for EGR insufficient and excessive, couldn't figure it out, I replaced the DPFE and EGR valve with no luck.

Well today I decided to track this down, I feel stupid saying this, but I never actually let the motor idle and listened to it... So I tried this today, and heard an OBVIOUS vacuum leak, turned out when we put the motor back in the car, we forgot to hook up the Vacuum tree to the EGR solenoid  plugged it in, car runs perfect, pulls hard in all RPMs.

This made my day.

Wow, just wow.

At least it was something easy.

everybody has their dumb moments, me more than others.

I never thought it was a vac leak because the car ran so well, I suspected it when the car stalled on me the other day, and sputtered right when I started it. So I decided to actually look into it.

Geez with the 6 engine swaps you've performed you do this.

yeah, I have been more focused on fixing other cars and helping bagged, that I dont really get time to wrench on mine, so I just drive it.

I've been consistently getting 26mpg, so I didn't worry about anything, my car pretty much only ever goes on the highway, and thats it.
