okay so baco99 was cool enough to run a carfax for me on a 'tour i've been watching from a distance. its been for sale on a used lot for at least 4 months now.

98 not sure of model designation, t-green, leather interior and looks to be very clean...2.5 v6 with low mileage, but also 3L ready at the drop of a hat. priced at 4799 or somewhere in there with an internet discount on top of that....not bad i could pay it off pretty quickly or take my holiday ot pay and my stimulus when it gets here and buy it outright depending on how low they'd go

<48k on the odometer and carfax verifies the low mileage and that it hasn't no shady past for the most part...

what worries me is that the car was 1st sold in 98, failed emissions due to 02 sensors in 2002 and looks to have been unowned ever since....the original owner got rid of it in 01 or therearebout and i guess it's been floating from auction to auction and used lot to used lot....

its only been driven about 500 miles in the last 4 yrs

my wife has only bad memories of my tour (i try to remind how badly i dogged that poor car, but she has learned to not like the 'tour)...i did tell her a month or so ago that i may end up with it anyway, since it would be my dd to get me to work and back and i need to low miles

anyway, how afraid of this car would you be if you were looking into buying it??? any opinions or suggestion welcome

That seems a little on the high side. These cars are unloved and depreciate rapidly. I paid $5200.00 for my '98 SE Sport V6 5 Speed with 24,000 miles. That was a year and a half ago and I think I paid too much - but it was worth it to me.

You're in a pretty good bargaining position. Demand a comprehensive 60 or 90 day warranty.

well i'd definitely go for warranty off the lot and extended warranty beyond that and seeing how long its sat around im pretty confident it isnt going anywhere...like you say these cars are unloved .....very much so....

i wouldn't offer more than 3k

was thinking about going and taking a look at it, but i just realized the dealer is ~50 miles from me so idunno...

meanwhile there's a dealer on the end of the block that has a mazda6 that im gonna go check out
