A CSVT calls for premium fuel. I believe the non-SVT (Duratec) Contour calls for regular fuel. Since the engines are not too different, would I notice any improvement if I start using premium in my v6 96 contour? With the crazy gas prices on the rise, I want to know if this will help performance or gas millage in my car. Or otherwise, if it may damage it :blackeye:.

Exactly. The only time you would see a benefit in running a higher octane fuel would be if your car is pinging. Run the gas thats recommended.
waste of money.
Besides, psychology states that if he believes the car will run and drive better, filling the car with premium will only make him think the car is actually running better, which it wont be.
With gas so expensive, run what you should run.

Premium is cheaper than ever as far as I'm concerned
I put it in the Cougar for fun sometimes. Makes a big difference :laugh:ohiocsvt

i've ran both reg and plus in the wifes se and it does seem to run a little better on plus but really its prob just a waste

one day when i had my old car i found gas really cheap. i filled it up with 93 just to see what might happen. well the car died randomly and would not start unless i gave it gas when it was sputtering. after that tank of gas then filling up with regular its "normal" state returned. now i have no idea if that was the gas but i do know that 96 3.3L caravan was

The premium tanks at the gas station might not have been used in awhile so sediment and such settles. I've had this happen to my snowmobile when we would have to stop at some station out in the middle of no where, even if it is a well known name.
