so after about 3 hours of trying to get every little darn thing that was rubbing (trimming the air filter box about 5 times, rotating the MAF so the "black box" is on the side and not on top. etc., moving around the air filter, etc.) and not allowing the hood to close....I still can't get the hood latch to hook.

What did you guys do to get the hood to latch? It latches on the 1st catch but will not get the 2nd catch. The latch is all the way up, I tried that. The only way it can go is down.

Any ideas??

this happens on pretty much every CF hood. put some washers behind the hood latch mechanism. put the same size washers on all four studs

edit: erhmmm, i take that back. the hood is garbage. you better just give it to me

so by what you are saying the washers will actually push the latch on the car outward or forward right?

It seems the hood isn't going down far enough to catch the latch mechanism but the "loop" on the CF hood is the same length as the "loop" on the stock hood.

it looks like there is already 2 washers behind the metal bracket plate of the latch mechanism separating it from the frame of the car....is this right?

I need more than 2 washers back there?

get as many as you can fit back there. that still wasnt enough for mine, so i had to push out the core support a little. also heated up the latch mounting bracket and bent that out to have the mechanism stick out even further

well the issue wasn't not having the mechanism out far enough, it was not having it up high enough. I had to widen the holes so I could move it up more. It appears to latch OK now.

Just sell me the hood you will feel better:cool: haha.

Trade wheels for hood???

i had to raise mine up too. took a file and ground the holes on the bottom

Yea thats exactly what I did.

that's weird, i just bolted mine on and raise the latch a tiny bit, and it latched fine....

Yea I had to drill a new hole on the passenger side bracket and widen them all a bit for some wiggle room. Its odd how they made the holes in the hood different on each side.

i think the only person that didnt have to do that to the cowl hood was wa2tuff. he called and complained to the company. he sent it back and they welded on a new hinge in the right place.

I think I would cry if I got rid of the 19's it took me so long to find them and at a great price. I'm sure I got other car parts we can work out for the hood, just shoot me a PM and we can talk :).

Haha i know how happy you were to find those wheels. I've been looking to try out 19's but I'm also happy with my 18's. I'm pretty much done modding my car. Spent way too much $ on it already but I do have it looking the way I have always wanted it to
