subframe connectors

for the price svt4stv makes them i think you would loose money in material alone.... they are realllllly nice and welllll worth it. they fit like a charm too.

150 bucks.

IMO they arnt exactly worth it unless you plan some extreme mods.

I might grind mine off and try and sell them but they are probably rusted pretty good by now.

Foam your frame rails. It does significantly more good then flat steel overlays ever will. Also the weight gain is negligable.

I've heard lots of good bout them. I'll know whenever I put the set I got on the car. Probably next year, have no need for them right now.

Get some industrial expanding foam (urethane), mask off strategic holes in the unibody frame rails (there are a lot!), and then insert copious amounts of foam.
An added bonus is it helps cut road noise and vibrations. However for me the later is a moot point.

Welding on the underbody will certainly do the same thing (hasten corrosion). You could possibly undercoat the externally welded areas but the heat of fusion will burn off the galvanizing in places where you cannot gain access.

The subframe connectors which are presently being sold are a poor design. Look at the connection point at the rear. It consists of a bunch of stacked up pieces of square steel tube. The connectors also appear to interfere or come very close to the exhaust on the drivers side. Anyone got pix of them installed?

IMO, you'd be much better off utilizing a design which beefs up and ties the rocker panels to the subframe on a longitudinal basis. Much more effective...

I completely agree with you. those rear boxes are a joke and need to be boxed in [not that that is hard to do].

They dont actually interfere with the exhaust but one of the exhaust hangers is very very close [I have a pacesetter exhaust, clearance may be an issue on beefier pipes but I did not have a problem].

I'm too lazy to repost pics but if your registered on neco, I have some nice photos posted there.

and just my 2 cents but I felt they made a HUGE difference to the car. Case in point, when I had them installed [what about a year ago now, had them installed within a week of recieving them from the GB] I was still running a pure stock suspension [only addition was a RSTB] and my buddy was convinced it gave a much firmer ride than his Koni's.

I have subframe connectors on my 99 and it does make a very big difference. Although the ones I have are not from the GB that was done here and are instead someone elses design alltogether. They have been on the car for the 3 years I've had the car with no problem whatsoever and the ride compared to SVT's without them is tremendous.

The ride is very taught and supple but not harsh by any means. It still gives when it needs to but you get the feeling that the entire car is connected to all 4 corners. There is no laziness either in the ride. And this is all done on the stock suspension with 46,000 miles.
