I just drained and filled my SVT's tranny. I had the car jacked up in the front and added Motorcraft "honey" trans fluid (17.88/quart :-(!) with about 2 OZ. of xl-7 friction moddifier. Well my question is I put the oil in until it started to come out of the fill hole quickly (while jacked up in the front). Should I put the car down on the ground and open the fill plug and let the excess oil drain out is my question? I just want to make sure its done right! I would guess that there is a little more than 2 1/2 quarts in the trans. Thanks!!!!

I just opened the fill hole and let it drain out until it was a very thin stream coming out of the fill hole. IS that ok? I drove it for about 15 minutes total with the oil over the proper dose. Hopefully that is ok.... On a better note, I changed the spark plugs and wires today. Autolite doube plats and Motorcraft wires and installed my B&M short throw shifter! I must say that the short throw is AMAZING! I found out that I was able to get it thru my work and I payed $133.00 w/tax for it!!!

This probably should be in the Transaxle section. But anyhow, mine took just under 3 quarts.

Good luck with the Ford Honey and F/M. I am not having good success with it in my MTX. Royal Purple here we come!

So explain to me why we are adding a friction modifier to the ford spec fluid again anyway?????

If it doesn't work for you then switch to a fluid that does. I really think adding FM to fluids is playing with fire as you don't "Really" know how much is enough or too much, you don't "really" know what reaction that friction modifier with have with different base oils.

Of course if enough people test it out and prove it works fine then that could suffice as proof, but I don't think that has happened yet. Consequently I would not risk my trans on alchemy!
I would instead select a fluid after some research and use the best one I could find that meets the requirements.
