I just went throught what seemed to be a real bugger of na problem-I started out with Bosh platinum plugs(ran like poop with bad starts and overall poor driveability) so I went to the Autolite single platinum(good but a little rough on the starts-clears after about 5-10 seconds) and the worst were the Autolite xtreme performance plugs(horrible starts/very rough and ok on performance), All plugs were gaped at .054 as the manual states. I just want the best plug. I also own a 93 SHO and had to get the actual motocraft plugs to get ot to run right so please let me know what plug to use! It is a 98 SVT-

Welcome to the CEG Mike.

Try the Autolite Double Platinum plugs. Our cars seem to like them much better than the ones you've tried thus far. ;)

Are you changing the plug wires also?

Yea-Got the Motorcraft wires-I researched the subject and it seems the Autolite double plats are the way to go. I have the single plats in now -are those pretty good?

The single plats are good, but just not on our car.
Grab the doubles and see if they make a difference, they should.
Keep us posted.

I have always run copper plugs in my SVT. Just the Autolite mostly and some NGK's.

I just use what works....I have talked to dozens and dozens of people that build cars and race, from Honda's to Supra's to Porsche's. No one is that hyped about plat plugs. And at the rate I change them...it would be silly to put them in.

How many (Now, I'm just curious here) of those race cars utilize waste spark ignition systems like our engines do?
