OK so after consulting a few mechanics, i was told that my EGR valve was shot got a new one got it installed thursday, after i pick the car up start it up the engine dies right away does not even idle just dies, run back in and ask him to explain to me how in the hell my car won't even idle any more my car should run better not worst after they change the EGR, he tells me that i have two codes

P1504 IMRC stuck open
P1504 Idle air control valve
And that i have to replace my idle air control and my DPFE sensor.....

My question is it possible that when he used the torch to cut off the bolt that he overheated one of my sensors or even both and that's why i have no more idling

That's the reason why I hate mechanics(the ones that rip off people) and never trust them.

May I ask what was your original problem with the car?

The symptom you're describing is a textbook case of IAC failure. If you're able to start the car, but only able to hold an idle with your foot on the gas, that's it. The minute you lift, the engine falls flat. I've also had the IAC stick sufficiently (after not using the car for a few weeks) that the car would not start. It would try like hell, but sounded awful. Cleaned the IAC, and it fired right up.

In your case, if your mechanic buggered the IAC or connections while fumbling around with the exhaust gas return valve, you could get one of those symptoms. Make sure that the electrical connections to the IAC are not compromised, and check all vacuum hoses between the plenum and the firewall. If you're still having problems, remove the IAC and clean it.

Don't touch the DPFE until you've looked at this stuff. As for the IMRC, I'm not inclined to think that's an issue here.

Yeah that's exactly what's happening... sorry it took so long to answer. It will start up fine but if i don't keep my foot on the throttle it will die, but a friend of a friend works at ford and that's what he also said that the dumass mecanic fried my IAC while he cut the bolts with the torch, so hopefully i'll have a break this week and have time to go and get a IAC at the scrap yard they're about +/- $60 instead of $170 at Ford.

Thanks for your help people

Eric

Check to make sure the IAC valve connector is plugged in or wiring has not been burned off. If yes, then only suspect the IAC valve is broken.
