vacuum line - cant find where it goes to

In the midst of changing my IAC, I broke 1 vacuum line (the line that goes on top of the EGR Valve). No big deal, I'll go buy a hose and fix it. While looking into that, there is a "cluster" of vacuum lines and one of them are broken. I replaced the iac, replaced the other vacuum line, and still cannot figure out where this line goes to (red line).

When I turn on the car, there IS vacuum sucking/pressure (whatever you want to call it) on that line (I put my finger over it of course). My check engine light has been on since I bought the car, and I'm sure this line has been broke since I've had the car, is it possible that this vacuum line is causing the light? Does anyone have a diagram of where the vacuum lines go to? I did a search on here and did a yahoo search. I can't find anything on this.

IIRC the red line is to the fuel pressure regulator under the UIM. What year car?

i couldnt tell you where all of them go, but i know if i see pictures, i'd be able to tell you where they all go. soooo... post pix:). one more thing. its not smart to drive a car endlessly with the CEL on. the problem only compounds itself. with that being said, what codes are u pulling?

it's a 99 contour svt (sorry).

It's dark out, can't take pics at the moment, but basically, behind the intake manifold (between that and the firewall) there is a spot where a few vacuum lines connect to the (tps?)... not sure what it is. there are like, 5 or more vacuum lines in this one area. one goes to the EGR valve, one to a gray line (can't see where it goes). This one is a red line.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow of the vacuum lines/line I am speaking of

there should be about 3 very short ones and a couple of long ones.

Gotcha, I just can't see where this one goes to. Again, the line is broke, so either someone before me broke it off, or the other half is somewere and I just don't know where to look

could this be the reason I'm getting a few codes P0171, P0172, as in, is it possible one of these little vacuum lines could lean out the car?

slightly. only a massive vacuum leak will trip a lean code. am not exactly sure why u're getting conflicting codes tho. one says rich, while the other says lean for the same bank. like i said b4, post ur exact codes. the thing about troubleshootn is u try and give as much info as u can. that way nothing is missed.

Didn't get home in time from work to take pics. Just got home. Here are the codes my tuner gave me:
P0402 EGR Excessive detected
P0171 system too lean bank 1
P0174 system too lean bank 2

now we're getting somewhere. the codes u posted earlier didnt make sense. anyway, 171 and 174 shows that u probably do need new sensors. before changing them tho, inspect ur motor for leaks. oh wait... u do have a vacuum leak. u gotta fix that first tho. pix are crucial. as for the egr, do the "suck test". thats when u pop off the egr vacuum line, and suck on it. kinda like inhale with ur mouth kinda thing. if the car almost stalls, then the egr's fine, and u may just have to clean it. for that to work right tho, u also have to fix all the vacuum leaks u have. well... i guess u know what to do now... POST UP THE PIX.;)

Ok, work is killing me, litterally! If I get up early for work today, I'll take some pics. Tomorrow I'll be at Milan Dragway with my other car till 9:00pm, so I know I won't be able to post pics.
So far, I really appreciate the help from everyone. I'm new to the "contours"

No pictures YET!..

No pictures YET!..

Looks like you found your problem... OR it is not bothering you anymore.
Want to tell you something (no offense please) but if you have some knowledgeable people waiting here to help you at no cost, and if they demand a simple picture from you, you need to make some time to take that darn picture my friend.

Well maybe you already fixed your problem and it is not an issue anymore but if this is the case, then a two-line finish post explaining how it was fixed would really be nice.
The forum is not only to place to find help and go away but also to leave valuable information for others to come by and read it.

Well, I am sorry if I sound like a grandpa but I really believe this should be the way it is.

Good luck with your issue anyways...

You are absolutely correct. I actually have been having some health issues the past few weeks so I have been on and off of the boards, I do apologize. Health is #1 (and I know, it's not your concern). I may be new to these forums, but I've been on other forums for years and am the same way as you. Again, I apologize. The funny thing about these forums is I never receive an e-mail when someone responds to my posts, which is partially why I never see responses within a reasonable time.
A friend located the hanging hose. So this is taken care of.
I have another issue unrelated to this that I posted pics.

Thank you everyone for your help.
