Blown Tranny???

Well...got a problem. It seems my daughter let a friend drive my SVT. I find it sitting in the driveway. Go out...start it up...put it in gear...let out the clutch...nothing. Get out...look under car...puddle of red fluid...appears to be dripping from where the transaxle is mated to the engine.

Blown dif?
Blown TOB?


Thoughts?
 
probably a blown diff, look at the back of the trannie where the drive axels go into it. If the trans is leaking fluid, and its a blown diff, there will be a hole in the trans caseing, if its actually coming out from where the trans meets to the engine, blew the throw out bearing, which requires basically a whole new clutch kit, I got mine from ford for $260 shipped :D Thanks billy J :D
 
A blown TOB wouldn't cause a red fluid leak. There's nothing in the bell housing to leak except the slave cylinder but it wouldn't leak red tranny fluid. Seems the daughter's "friend" watched a little too much Fast and Furious and needs to be severely beaten about the head and neck. :nonono:

Dumb question time...

WOuld a blown diff make any noise? Any sort of a can full o' nuts sound? When I start it up and play with the shifter and clutch its silent...
 
now that I think about it, Red fluid would be ATF, did someone put Automatic trans fluid into your SVT?

if thats coming out of your trans :eek:

Like I said, jack up the car, wiggle under there and look at the back of the trans, if you have a trans fluid leak due to a blown diff it will be leaking out of the back of the trans where the axels go into it.

Previous owner used (I just bought the car) Valvoline (he thinks...). I drive the car very easily...trying to get the best MPG. I feel that this is def a result of a drop cltuch / high rpm launch...
 
i had a similar problem with mine when i bought it. My car had a broken seal on the input shaft on the slave cylinder. Why its red is a good question though.
 
Haha I just assumed his daughter would have enough sense not to let a boy drive but obviously not enough sense to not let anyone else drive. Though it very well could have been a boy that said he knew how to drive a stick pretty well.
