Aussie Ford
Hard-core CEG'er
You know how some little thing can just get bigger.
Well the seat track went bad on my wife's 95 Tour (my son insists on pushing it all the way back apparently he thinks he's 7' tall or something). I picked up one from UPI, got it all cleaned up and ready for install. Then as I was doing one last test on it I thought one motor was a bit weak so I changed them out with a spare set I keep handy. I get the seat out and put the back on the good bottom, but I find this big stain under the seat and had to clean the carpet. While I'm waiting for the carpet to dry, I think this is a good time to change the radio bezel since the one that I put in with the new dash had a broken tab on it that I glued, but I want it perfect. I removed the screws on the console. I had planned on doing this so I hadn't pushed the radio all the way in to lock it, but someone (like me son being helpful maybe) had pushed the radio in and I couldn't find my ford keys, so I had to make new ones. Finally I get it out and swapped, and the carpet is still wet so I change out the defrost switch, it had a burned out bulb for the little symbol. To remove the instrument bezel on a Mystique dash you have to also remove the cover on the steering column and the multi switches. Then I clean everything and shine it all up.
Now the carpet is dry the stain is gone so I start to put the seat in, and find in one of the bolt holes the threads are messed up (how'd that happen?). Well I don't have any metric taps so I search through a bunch of bolts and find one in the proper size that is a thread cutter and use that. Finally I have it all done, but it is 8pm...... now where did the day go????? and well the dog has been sitting in the car all day because he knows that when I'm working on it there will be a ride happening when I'm done.... and if he's in there he goes. After all no one messes with the car if I leave it open with the keys in it and him. He gets after everyone, my wife, son, neighbors, everyone but me...... The day ends with a ride to the park and then to play one of his favorite games..... Bark at the guy putting gas in the car.... LOL
Little things don't ya love them....... it was a good day
