My Find....

Sweet find man. I know the one thing I'm afraid of with my car is getting in an accident and wrecking my hood. So if I ever see an accident coming, I'll have to try and make it a sideswipe or something I guess. Oh, and if you want an idea how it will look, here's a pic of mine...

so whats the deal with installing this hood? I have not mounted it yet but from what I remember the mounting holes on the hood itself are not in the right location to use the stock mounting holes.Did you guys just drill a new hole in the metal bracket arm where the holes for this CF hood should be?

yes the back hole will line up but the front you will have to drill new hole in the hinge bracket

yeah, you've got a first run hood with the misaligned holes on one side.

drill the car, not the hood (obviously lol!)

you can use the wood blocks attached to the hood as a template for drilling the car.

OK...that's what I thought.

So did you just put the back in on both sides and the fitment was right on, or did you have to play with it a bit before you drilled the front two?

Also I'm running the Red Line hood struts. Will this cause an issue with the mounting? I bought the lower strength ones that RedLine said were better suited for CF hoods. They still hold my stocker up when fully open, it just does not lift it all by itself.

lol I know...I wouldn't drill a hole in the beautiful hood.

well i have yet to install mine. But i suppose if it doesn't line up i know what i have to do now....

thanks

Yea that's why I brought it up. Looks like you are fairly new to the subject and did not know about the alignment issue from the GB.

yea i didn't catch anything when skimming through the old forum, but thanks for the tip, and no worries i'll put pics up when i get it installed....

Mine only had one misaligned hole, the front one on the passenger side, the other 3 lines up fine, I believe that's how all of them were. Anytime you change out a hood you will need to try and adjust a bit for ideal fitment, just try and make the hole a bit bigger than needed, elongate it a bit to give yourself some wiggle room so to speak.
Also, there shouldn't be any problem with the hood struts, I was actually able to use just one when I had this hood on my old SE, was pretty cool, but I had the regular strength struts.

yeah afaik it's only one hole that was off. again, the wood blocks attached for shipping have the holes in the right spacing, just use it as a template.
