How reliable are the contour/mystique twins?

I just purchased a 97 lx duratec and it was really neglected and I see myself adding more and more money into get it in good running condition. I am going to use this car as my daily driver so that I can keep the miles down on my new Nissan Altima. The contour I bought has 91,700 miles and the tranny is smooth but I need motor and transmission monuts,Oil pan gasket cover,and a tensinor for the sepertine belt. I think I got a good deal what do you guys think? Thanks ahead of time!

Oil pan gasket cover should not be tough too. Many on this site have changed that.

Serpentine tensioner also have "near" how tos. Only problem is sometimes the bolt is hard to get out.

As long as the wiring harness doesn't fail, you're good. Check it now for crumbling insulation, as your '97 is probably at the end of the supplemental warranty for it. More information on the 99M03 recall is here.
