I just installed a new HMS trans. this past weekend, with a SPEC Stg. 1/Fidanza flywheel combo. Everything is good no clunks or anything. But it seems to be a little notchy. I had Terry put in the "slick shift" forks so I thought it would be alot smoother. I am running Synchromax, should I change to Ford honey? Or try bleeding the clutch again?

When I got my bulldog box it was notchy to, but terry said to break it in with conventional ATF and then switch to the Ford fluid. I ran some Coastal brand ATF for about 500 miles and the went with RP synchromax. I changed that out once more 1000 miles later and refilled with RP and it was smooth as silk from there on out.

I broke in my tranny with RP Synchromax and have not had any problems. In fact, Terry recommended to me to brake it in with the same fluid I planned to run, which happened to be the RP. Again, I really doubt that the fluid is the problem.

Btw, what do you mean by notchy?

Yeah he told me to put in whichever fluid I plan on running in it from the beginning. I dont know any other term to describe it, its just notchy. Definitely not smooth as I predicted when I upgraded to the slick shift forks. I would have thought it would shift like butter. Im gonna try to bleed the clutch again and see if that helps any.

Shift cables play a very large roll in a properly shifting trans. I think starjammir bought the Ford alignment tool to do it. He said it worked great.

Oh ya, that thing is BA, just loosen the shift cables, but the thing on the shifter, tighten the cables, presto, perfect shifting.

I adjusted the cables on the shifter side and it feels like it helped a bit. Im gonna try to adjust them at the shift tower this weekend and bleed the slave a couple more times.
