Alright, I will admit, I need help. I know a little bit about cars, mostly imports, but not a lot on domestic. In addition to that, I DO NOT know anything about engine components.... ahem.... so now that thats been said I need help.

I just bought a short RAM intake for a 99 Contour SE, and I don't have the slightest clue on how to install it. I go all the way to removing the stock air filter along with the box, but i get stuck. I am scared that I might break it :(

Please dont flame me, im new, its my first car.... will anyone be so kind as to help me install it? OH, i dont want to make it a racer! I just love the sound the intakes make.....

btw, pictures will be awsome help.

what are you afraid of breaking? installing the intake is very straight forward. its just out with the old and in with the new. unbolt everything and bolt the new intake up. very straight forward. theres nothing for you to be worried about

Create a signature with your car's information in it. To help with this, we need the engine type at least, 4 cyl or 6?

so, i saw it. It seems like theres really nothing to it. but still, i read somewhere on this site how to install a CAI.....http://contour.org/mods/mods.php?s=howto&displayid=20
thats the site i was reading while installing. it said something like...
"[FONT=arial,verdana,helvetica,sans-serif][SIZE=-0][FONT=arial,verdana,helvetica,sans-serif][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]The box is connected to the wiring harness also, and with some wiggling, you will be able to shift it towards the battery enough so you can get to the intake resonator. BE VERY CAREFULL WITH THIS!! Intermittent (meaning hard to diagnose and find) electrical problems can result if you are too agressive. Just be carefull and don't put too much stress on the wiring."
after reaching this step, i got scared and reinstalled everything....... so, yea.

Yeah its easy unbolt old OEM intake and then install new intake and old MAF. im sure if you bought a legit intake (k&N, Weapon R, Injen, ETC.)and not some Ebay P.O.S it came with instructions and pics i know my K&N gave me pic by pic instructions.

Don't worry, with the amount you have to move it to get the air box out will not harm anything, you can pretty much twist and turn it and it wont do anything. All you have to do is unscrew the bolt holding it down, lift up and move forward. Then you will have enough room to remove everything you have too. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Again don't worry this is probably one of the easiest mods you can do.

EFFFFFFFF!!!!!!

....i bought an ebay POS..... someone wanna run me over?
what should i do?

Your fine... just buy a real Kn&n later on when you have extra money and throw that on.

Other wise your fine man. I hope you got the ebay intake that actually fits and has the correct couplers and tube size.

alright, i guess i'll do that. I'll try it sometime this week, maybe saturday? I'll even try to get some pics so that you guys can see my progress/failure. whichever one. But ive been looking at the pics and it seems that all i have to do is switch the old box with the new filter.... but whats with all the other stuff i got? I.e. tubes, bracket, other stuff...

Thats for a SVT intake. Did you buy an SVT intake? NO then i wouldnt worry about that. You want the removal of a 99 SE intake which is slightly different.

This may help but it says its for a weapon r intake. Good Luck.
