So I took the car to a local auto body shop that deals with customers from the automotive repair shop that I work at. After looking over the car, the estimate that I got to fix it, including labor, parts, and painting, was $5,188.22, much more than the car is worth considering it's present state. It is definitely totaled, and there is no way that I am going to get enough to fix it from the insurance company. Since the last pics that I posted, the rear tail light piece has since fallen off, but that is all that has changed. They told me that the bumper for the car was $1,300 alone, and then the trunk was $800, along with several other little things that need to be replaced. Not sure what I am going to do yet, but we'll see.

That sucks. Go to the junk yard, pick up a crappy old trunk and a non SVT bumper and slap those on there. At least you will still have a drivable car, and you can look for an SVT bumper down the line. That should bump it down to about $3,288.22

I bet you can save that bumper.. So yeah i'd pick up a non svt bumper and trunk and go from there.

i'd pick up a pre98 trunklid..lots of people are parting these car's out.so the rear bumper is a easy find..tails will need to match the trunklid..pull the key area out as much as possible..fill in the rest and shave the keyhole...negotiate w/you insurance to get back as much as possilbe,to the penny w/out it being parted out.

I'm not sure what to do about the bumper, that is the most expensive part. I was going to go with a pre-98 trunklid or a carbon fiber trunk, if I could find one to fit, and the tail lights were going to be a problem as well. I am definitely going to try to get every last penny out of the insurance company that I can. The bumper I guess is fine as it is, it is still driveable, and I'm not really worried about it coming off, so I think I will hold off on the Non-SVT bumper application for now, but maybe down the line I will be able to find a new one. I tried looking for an aftermarket kit for it, but after emailing the company that made them, they told me that it would only fit a regular contour, not an SVT, which is super not cool. Anyway, I will drive it like is til I find something that works.

well,i imagine you'll get 2 grand or so before they total it. you can get the cd27 body kit from andysautosport.com for 5oo or or so,pre98 lid for 20 bucks at a picknpull yard, tails for another ten. do the body work yourself, and use the rest to have the car painted:shrug: or find a svt rear bumper for a couple hundred..thats easy to do
or if they total it and offer you say 4grand(not sure what yours is worth) and the buy back is 500 it might be worth it to go that route. you can part it and make some money,or fix it yourself and have it repainted. you have some options
