Not good...

I'm starting to wonder if a faulty DPFE sensor could cause the computer to fault the injectors??? Judging from the past two times the car dies when the EGR monitor completes. Does this make any sense at all?

no. a faulty dpfe won't fault sensors. your problem seems eratic. here today gone tomorrow. i'd like to point out at this junction that these were close to the signs of my pcm failing. thing is, its the last thing i changed. i'd look for other causes before moving to the pcm tho.

Yea, I'm thinking about pulling everything from under the hood, the computers, wiring and everything, and just finding a car that works that I can swap in everything. I'm going to do a few tests tonight to see if I can determine anything else.

thats too much work if you ask me. lets take it from the top. what's the situation of your car now?

It runs. But I don't want to take it anywhere for fear it might die again. I usually take it around the block once or twice every other day. I'm just trying to get it to the point right before it dies.

Haha, and no that's not too much work. I'm planning a 3 liter swap anyway, so while the motor's out, it shouldn't be horrible.

oh, so you're planning on doing this while the motor's out? well, that puts a different spin to it.

Haha, I wouldn't even think of doing it with a motor in there:crazy:.

If I get the car I'm going to test on Thursday, then that will most likely be my course of action. I'm still going to get the Auterra Dyno-Scan software to run a few tests though. Just to see if there is something else going on that I'm not seeing and hopefully I can get a log through the point that it dies.

If it happens under WOT, perhaps your dramatic launch is so hard it's tripping the fuel shut off crash safety switch (or maybe the cut off switch is just evil). Kind of like when you lean forward too fast and the seat belt catches.

I kind of ease it into WOT though, first time was a downshift from 4th to 3rd and second time was just a quick acceleration in 4th for about 4 seconds.
