77k Miles No Mods Completely Stock AND THE ENGINE IS 2.5 SVT MOTOR DUH

ok, so where do you preseve the noise coming from?

it could be a loose heat shield ... it could be the rear sway bar, it could be from the suspension, it could be from the motor, the brakes ... take your pick ....

You COULD have blown the SVT engine and replaced it with a standard 2.5 Duratec. (its been done..)

You COULD have installed a 3L Duratec.

You COULD have a 3L hybrid installed.

Don't get all uppity because someone didn't know your history.

Start the car, open the hood, revv the car with the throttle lever and determine which part of the car the sound is coming from. If it is from the bottom with a "dink, dink, dink, dink, dink" sound, it is most probably a loose heat shield. Get a Victor 801, 802, 811 or 812 repair kit ($8). It has a metal strap and nuts and bolts that you can strap the shield in. Also need a pair of snips ($15?) to cut the strap to the correct length.

Mine does it at 3800 RPM in idle, sounds like a bunch of coins jingling in a tin can.. and also does it under a load at like 2500 RPM.

Headshield as well? Sound is coming from near the cat. I've always figured it was something loose but never got around to getting under the car

yes it could be the heat shield or stones stuck behind the heat shield
