auto door locking

I never understood the point of the car locking the doors. All cars for awhile now have a special latch (can't remember, named after a senator or something), that prevents the door from opening in an accident. At worst, if you get in a minor accident and get knocked out, the windows have to be busted out to get you out of the car. To top that off, the fire department cuts the battery wire right away, so your locks get shut off... therefore your door has to be cut off by the jaws. I'd prefer to have my doors stay unlocked, and if I want them locked, I'll hit the button myself.

I believe that functionality is built into the BCM of the cars that have that, about the only way your going to get close to that in the contour is with an aftermarket system. You can enable Ignition controled locks that will autolock when the ignition is on for 3 or more seconds and then unlock when the ignition is turned off.... also know as Comfort Closure.
