dual mass dampener

The 2.5 dampener has the serp. pulley built into it and the 3L has the pulley at the end of a left hand threaded extension shaft.

Therefore they are not interchangeable.

this is correct .... the taurus/sable has a completely different damper all together, not sure about the escape.

the escape doesn't come with one either. my 04 escape didnt come with one. i actually just picked one up yesterday. its got a big rubber band on the inner part of the wheel. am guessing the belt to reduce vibration.

so if i'm doing a 3L swap doesn't the serp belt need to be the same as the 3L or the 2.5? can i use the dmd on a 3L swap?

You don't use the 3L timing cover for the swap. You'll be using the 2.5L cover and all other stock components. Everything will bolt up the same as the 2.5L.

... depending on what type of 3L you build ....

suggestion, stop by the 3L forum and start reading.

ok, so i couldn't find anything... which probably means i'm looking in the wrong place, i know it's totally a newb move, but assuming i use the 2.5L timing cover would the dmd make a difference? has anyone on here put the dmd on a 3.0L... i'm planning on getting the heads ported so they'll line up with the 2.5 lim.

no the dmd wouldn't make a difference. folks on here switch em out all the time. i plan to put mine on tomorrow.

can you tell a difference with it on like you can on the 2.5?

honestly haven't stopped to concider it yet since I have only driven the car maybe 100 miles since the swap, more concerned about the clutch break-in at the moment.

But I would say it would make it smoother, overall my new engine/mtx is very smooth.
