very soon im going to have my SVT up for sale and am going to get myself another car to hold me for a year or two before i buy a SVT Cobra.

ive been considering two options.

03-04 Mercury Marauder Black

or

03-04 SVT Focus (euro packadge would be nice) in silver or blue

what do you guys think?

neither .... if you want a cobra in 2 or 3 years keep the contour for that time or get a cheap beater and be ahead that much more so that you can get the cobra ....

im not a big marauder fan and with gas prices so high i say svt focus

i think i'd take the marauder over the SVT Focus. focus is a great car, but really is underpowered. Besides, you gotta get used to that V8 gas mileage!!!

who knows...maybe you'll fall in love with the merc and keep ti and supercharge it!

brian makes a good point. keep csvt until your able to get that loan...or sell the svt,use some of the money towards a cheap car and save the rest to help towards a down payment:shrug:

I agree with Brian, unless you're having major major repairs with the SVT, it is more sensible to keep it.

But if you're dead set on a new car, I'd go with the Marauder.
The two cars really are in different leagues though. You're comparing a huge RWD V8 sedan with a "tuner" FWD 4cyl compact car.

x2 unless the whole point of this thread is to decide the car you will be driving most of the time when you do have the cobra. A cobra can be a DD too:crazy:

Well , I might be a little biased , but if I were you , I'd keep my eyes out for MY low-mileage Sonic Blue '04 SVT Focus for sale in the near future :) . My expanding family is gonna need more than a 2-door car , so I think she's gonna go bye-bye :( . Here she is ...

No , I don't wanna trade , BTW ;) . LOL !!

Marauder all the way, but it needs to have the s/c on it.
and make sure you get on 04, not an 03. Only year they offered a sunroof was 04.

Focus................manual, better handling, manual, better brakes, manual, better gas mileage, manual, similar performance, manual

Oh yea, Focus also as you said black on black for Mercury. Hard to keep clean, shows everything, gets very hot in summer, etc. I really hate black cars most of the time. They look nice when clean but that is not for very long. I had a black SVT and that car would get so much hotter inside than the rad or silver ones I have had. I say Silver Focus SVT.

Save your money and just get the Cobra...you wont be disappointed. But if you have your heart set on a new car go with the Merc.

Be patient and spend the money on the cobra.

$4 a gallon come summer time   :help:

I'd say this is not the time to smack your self in the head and say "I should a had a V8"

I think the Marauder looks better then the focus svt and the Mustang Cobra, but like svt loki said "$4 gallon". But I would still would get the Marauder, You got to pay to play. Just don't make the Marauder or Mustang your daily driver.

Save your money and keep the SVTC until you can afford the Cobra.
Strange question though----neither of those cars are in the same league as far as price or type of car, but I like both.
The Marauder is sweet (I've been in a stocker and an Eaton blown one) and the SVTFs I drove are VERY similar to an SVTC as a whole (and I like the SVTC better).
BTW, I have a lot of Cobra experience, what year are you planning on buying?
