i just got a 98 mistique ls v6 5speed.... and i dont know that much about these cars, but just by looking under the hood, one of the first things i noticed was that stock tb was pretty small, can i put the tb from the duratec taurus on my 2.5?? and if so, what is the differance in size between the 3l tb and the svt tb???

and will my tps fit right up, or what will i have to do..
i tryed using the search but it wasnt working for me

thanks guys

The SVT and 3.0 Taurus throttle bodies are the same size. They use the same casting, but the similarity mostly ends there.

Size wise, the non SVT throttle body is 54mm, the STV and 3.0 is 60mm. Even the SVT throttle body takes some effort to install it on a non SVT. Maybe someone else can help further explain the differences.

your best bet would be to optimize your stock tb or upgrade to the svt tb. It depends on the year of the 3L, but many of them have a bypass for the Idle Air Control valve, which on a 2.5 manifold would cause a massive vacuum leak unless it was plugged.

To install the SVT TB you'll need the the svt tps, svt throttle cable, tb bracket, svt gasket, and svt rubber accordian tube (although you can muscle the stock one on there). I believe thats everything iirc.

ok but is the taurus tb the same as the svt, what years taurus didnt have the idle iar control valve bypass??

what im looking to do is put on a bigger tb, and not spend rediculous amounts of money on a used svt one. ..

any other solutions would be greatly appreciated

the throttle body linkage is a little different. it can be rigged up to work. i've run the 3l tb before, never had any air leaks. to it flows smoother i always fill in the whole w/jb weld
