well i changed my oil today. but i am kinda worrying now. i've always used 5w30 regular oil (mobil or castrol gtx) for the past 3 years, and today i decided to go with synthetic. so i got some kind of engine flush thing. i put it in, left the car on idle fo 10min, then removed all the oil while still hot (bad idea but that's what the instructions were) and then added 5qt of mobile 1 5w30 full synthetic and 1qt of lucas oil conditioner for synthetic oil (or whatever its called).
well the thing is that its a 98 E0 csvt with 106k+ miles on it. I know the engine has been changed by ford in 2000 so the engine should have less miles on it...but was that a bad idea? did i do it right? huh? should i have stayed with regular oil? I have red many people saying that leaks will occur (never had them so far). the guy at Auto Zone said that if the engine has ran on regular oil the first 5k miles, and then switch it to synth, it will destory all the gaskets, and the engine would be damaged pretty fast leading to rebuilding the engine...huh? true? have any of you changed to synthetic at high milage (say between 70-110k miles)
i just need some opinions, coz as i searched the old forums, there are all kinds of statements.
