I there, I needed a clutch kit and a local shop said that the Mazda 626 uses the same MTX75 transmission and therefore the clutch kits for that car fit the Contour SVT but its much cheaper??? Is this true?

Thanks :)

So I wonder if I should drop the SVT as a daily driver then. I've got 325,000KM on the car but I do notice the parts and labor are expensive and sometimes I'm waiting for stuff for a day or two (parts).

Maybe I'm getting old but I kinda like the newer suzuki swifts. Sure they are slow and all but I dont mind for a daily driver. I'll worry about a fast car later on in life :)

626 and Probe were cousins and shared drivetrains. Not even close to Contour/Mystique. Isn't an OEM SVT clutch kit $260 from Bill J.? That even includes the $90 OEM TOB. Did you expect the clutch to be $20?

Todras, the Probe was a rebadged MX-6; not a 626.

Torquemoonster, just go to Autozone.com and look up the part numbers for both, if you're curious.

But yeah - the 626 never used an MTX-75.

great idea .... but again with an OEM SVT clutch kit running $260 from Team Ford Parts you can't go wrong, and honestly that is pretty darn cheap concidering you get the clutch, pressure plate, tob, and alignment tool.

how about this, team ford pricing

SVT clutch disk: $111.54
SVT pp: $117.17
Slave Cylinder: $89.02

for a total of 317.73

Heck a luk clutch from autozone is $255

man that kit deal of 248.20 great ....

Most of the clutch kits I'm pricing up here in Canada are $450 - $600 and some of those prices are the LuK kits. I wonder why the huge disparity in the prices :(
