today I have been a member for 28 days and I would like to let everyone in on the progress (rehab) of my car since aquiring a few days after signing up for CEG.
The beginning:
I had aquired a '97 black 'tour GL 132k Zetec/MTX
Cars dash was mutilated, all wiring for HVAC/ radio/ panel dim had been shredded/ rewired as well as wires going to the trunk and the dash/trim itself trimmed away.
This was all done as an attempt for an in-car computer from the last owner. along with this a 10 foot power extension cord (like the one you use for your power tools) was run to the trunk from behind the dash, other misc. wires run to the trunk.
Trash in trunk/ glove box
center console once removed and damaged (holes, covered in ashes, missing: armrest clip,cupholder bezel/cig lighter/ashtray portion) then only part way installed. E-brake boot torn. moonroof problems.
Most importantly there was some type of engine/electrical problem that was not solved by an alternator swap. :shrug:
no heat from engine
back bumper fitted with wall-drug/ phone-geek stickers.
driver's door handle molding missing
driver's sun visor destroyed (keyboard install)
driver's side mirror damaged
a pillar trim missing
glovebox backing cut out
trunk vent broken, water(ice) in trunk
lug wrench missing
NOW FOR THE UPDATE:
I had removed the badging and bumper stickers
repaired the entire center console, e-brake boot and replaced all missing parts, upgraded cupholder
repaired all wiring/ Radio/dimmer/hvac wiring and reinstalled hvac controls
fixed alternator/ new battery/ inspected engine wiring harness visually by recall standard/ tested megafuse/all fuses
changed thermostat
I have located majority of missing parts
upgrades:
Added tach
debadged
billet grill
cougar cupholder
lighted moonroof switch
In progress:
stock foglight install
cougarS pedal/dead pedal install
autodim mirror
Future upgrades:
accent rings in foglights to work w/blinkers
mystique door panels w/ power windows
change seats from knob to lever or upgrade to power seats
rewire taillamp to except newer style bulbs (pre98-post98 conversion)
heated mirror recontent
flush mount gas cap recontent

and wiring to add power windows

I want to thank CEG members for the help and information as well as JoeM for the parts.
When it is all done I will be inviting local CEGer's to come by and hang out/ test drive the new car so stay posted in the North Central forums.
