Hard-core CEG'er
I started to paint the passenger side brakes (did the drivers side yesterday) so I pulled off the front wheel. It felt really dirty and grimey inside. Bwah? Look at the inside of the rim, sure enough it's full of crap; dirt, rocks, grease. So right away I thought the wheel seal or bearing was gone. I threw the wheel out in the yard and looked behind the brake rotor. There is a tiny cut in the CV boot and all the grease had slung out; all over the underside of the caliper, the steering tie-rod joint, everywhere.
I just got my car back from the dealer from getting a new left rear axle. Now, 3 days later, I find that my right front axle outter CV joint is running dry; for who knows how long. There's no slop in the joint, though. It's still solid without any play; but the lack of grease means it's only a matter of time.
Back to the Hyundai.
