I need a new one...where can I get one and how much will it cost? I have the 1999 2.0L Zetec....is the dipstick used in my car common to any other Ford models?

I'd personally just hit up a local boneyard for one. A lot of times they let me walk out of there with parts for free.

Yes, it is the same as a Ford Truck. I can't remember the model but I recall Loco4G63 posting it in the old forums.
Same happened to me. At least it didn't break off flush in the tube. Dealer here wanted $25 for a new one. I tried one of the generic ones from Autozone... didn't work right. Try contacting Bill Jenkins or Steve Tousley.

also note that there is a difference between pre98 and 98+ dipsticks on the zetecs.

I had the handle on my dipstick break. All it takes is a pull straight up on the tube to pop it off the engine. Just make sure the O ring is still on the tube.
As far as a replacement.....superglue didn't work so I went to Autozone and got a chrome Ford 302 dipstick that was the same EXACT length as my Contours.....even read the oil level right.
