Isn't that suppose to be inside me engine!?

My spark plug on the number 2 cylinder exploded out of my motor tonight while i was driving down the road. I wasn't accelerating hard, just enough to pass somebody who was turning. I knew what it was right away. I hope it didn't tear out too many threads on the way out.

My poor car is having a rough winter so far. About a month ago in a bad snow storm i smoked a curb in a parking lot. My rim turned out to be fine but the suspention took all the force of the impact. Bent control arm and steering knuckle.
Control arm is fixed but if anybody has a steering knuckle on a part out car let me know!

Pure Theory based on physics(just throwing out the idea):
Possibly your exhaust valves didn't open and you ended up with a whole lot of pressure inside the cylinder causing the plug to blow out:shrug:

I don't know how that would happen unless they were burnt shut.

His exhaust valves are fine. This has happened before and I've had mine work loose before too.

replace the spark plug and keep on moving. As long as the threads weren't damaged on the heads, that's all you'll have to do.

If they were, you'll have to use a Helicoil to make new threads.

A regrettably common problem with many ford engines. Helicoil spark plug thread repair kit is the most robust solution, but looks to be a real pain to install in the cylinder that popped.

A new spark plug is best bet. Try to use a torque wrench if possible and do not over-torque it. I would install the new spark plug “dry” (no antisieze) - but opinions definitely differ on that.

Soft aluminum heads get ya every time. If you install new plugs on a warm engine you can easily strip the head. I had to have a helicoil done. Can put shaving cream down the hole to catch the shaving. Rotate the crank with a wrench to blow it out.

Well i was able to thread the plug back in. It felt like it threaded in just like it should so i tightened it down and put the wire back on. Car started fine but i didn't really take it for a dive. I just backed out of the garage and into my spot on the driveway, it was idling fine. We'll see if it was just that easy.
