Anybody have any ideas on this: Error codes indicating lean bank 1 and 2 after install of MSDS headers, y pipe and hi flow cat. Stock filter. Mil eliminators were also installed as were new Bosch 02 sensors in both headers. Thnaks, Stan 732-422-5703

For the first three codes. I suggest you check the DPFE hoses, to make sure they did not pop off. If it is intact, check for broken hoses elsewhere or loose hose clamps after the MAF sensor but before the engine. In addition, do you have a massive exhaust leak?

As for P0040, it appears that is not a Contour code? Have to get back to you later on that. It shows as the Crown Vic/Marauder having issues with wiring being switched or PCM fault.

Edit. For a generic scanner, it shows the code P0040 as the O2 sensor wiring being switched. It appers to be a wiring issue or PCM issue. I suggest you check the wiring harness, especially at the end closest to the PCM to see if some of the insulation came off.

P0401 and P0402 are not lean codes.

Your DPFE hoses are probably not installed (or switched). Need to connect them correctly to EGR tube and then the EGR tube to headers.

Edit. Figure 1 from Autozone link.

AHA! So that's the 2nd fitting on the rear manifold (DPFE)!

When I put the headers on, a day lapsed before I finished the install, so I was trying to figure out WTF the extra fitting was for on the header. Looks like it's the DPFE hookup! Maybe that's why my car is running like crap :ponder:

Gonna go look at that right now and see if I can fix it.

There are two holes on the rear header. One for the o2 sensor and one for the EGR. The dpfe has two hoses that go onto nipples that are on the EGR tube.

Well, that was one problem fixed!

Found the rouge hose and where it's supposed to go on the DPFE sensor.

Also changed the IAC valve and replaced an EGR bolt I lost while doing the UIM/LIM cleaning. Also found the #11 20A fuse blown in the engine fuse box. Dunno what sort of wierd stuff caused that to blow, but yeah...

After about 1 minute of running, the CEL came back on (I had the battery disconnected for like 30 minutes).

Doesn't stall now, but still revs to like 2500RPM and holds for an idle, then drops, then goes back up.

Seems like a big vacuum leak, gonna get some carb cleaner and spray it around since my visual inspection hasn't found any problems.

What code is it?

I dunno, I need to buy a scanner and have it sent over here so I can check them (place on base charges $30 to pull codes... I could buy a cheap scanner for that!).

However, I have a pretty damn good idea on what is the cause... While pulling the fuses to reset the computer, I noticed the fuse #13 20A (HEGO) is blowing. So I bet the codes are O2 sensor. Replaced the fuse, it was blown by the time I got home.

Read this thread on the old forums, I REALLY hope it's not the harness starting to deteriorate!
