Are there any members here that are using Cat Cams? I'm just wondering what kind of gains are possible in a straight 3L build over the SVT and 3L cams.

I haven't even heard of them till you said this, not to my knowledge, but its good to know that there are after market options.

I'm not aware of anyone that has installed them. The specs look intriguing, especially the mildest set. There was quite a bit posted about them two or three years ago.

One of the big concerns in installing them is the lack of any indexing to line them up with the sprockets. The sprockets are a press on, and would need to be dialed in with a degree wheel. If you didn't get it right, you would need to remove the sprocket and press it again. They are also expensive.

SVT snob has some. i was going to buy them. terry haines had a set of cam gears that were adjustable after being pressed on. that'd be what you need. you could do a lot with these. i believe he has stage 4 cams too :O

there was one cougar owner that got them back in the day when they were announced [IIRC there were a handful of people that ordered them but wth delays/etc I think that was the only set that went out the door at the time]. And he posted a photo or 2 as proof but that was the last we heard of him until about a year ago when he reappeared and sayed he never got them running and due to some mistake on their part milling them, they trashed his engine.

I think I read that post on newcougar.org. I'm really surprised that no one has any real experience with these cams. I'll talk to 96blackse and maybe you'll all see my car with these installed in the Spring.

Someone on here bought a set of these cams. They never got the gears put on. So he tried selling them. Nobody i know ended up buying them from him.

As far as i know nobody has a runing set on there car.

Yeah that was me, I was lazy and after never getting them installed by my 3rd 3L install I said the hell with it and sold them. Mine were the Stage4 and now I kinda wish I had them.

Some of the veterans around here might remember a very hot debate five years ago about the cams, where someone announced that he was going to get a set and that they would outperform the SVT cams by huge margins. There was a "technical" debate where the OP managed to tell everyone they're stupid, and ended with a "just wait and see once I get a dyno graph." No graphs ever materialized by the OP, or anyone else that I'm aware of.

The OP also had some kind of intake manifold he was making and promised dyno graphs of, but never followed through on either. I chalked the whole thing up to incompetence.
