The Worst Time and I found a way right into it!

Well as everyone knows my CSVT is broken till I do the swap at Greg's in Mass in 2 weeks!

Well I have like almost 1000 saved up for it! Greg and I spoke about labor costs and I wont reveal that! Regardless I had a bit more than expected so if I need any emergency parts and issues during the swap.

Well today I just got my Chevy Prizm fixed up and ready to roll as I wanted to sell it(in the classifieds) and do the inspection since its been down for about a year!

I left my house this morning doing my boss a favor 2 drop off a Hard Drive from my house at the office and he asked me to take a computer over 2 a golf course and install it. I say ok sounds good its on my way 2 my retail job and I can make a couple bucks in the morning and still make it early to my other job everything works out fine!!!!

NOOOOOTTTT, I stroll through a bad town into a good town about 30 min away from my IT JOB. All is good I install the Computer @ the golf course and it was a breeze loving it, its 12pm and i gotta be @ work @ 3 and im like a half hour away Sweet Earliness and Overtime(to save more for my swap)! With the extra time i was going to head over to get an inspection as I am selling the car and it doesnt look good to have a really old expired inspection sticker! Going back into the bad town and in downtown 6 blocks from the highway 2 get on to get 2 work and the inspection station! There is a checkpoint!

I get pulled over for not having my current inspection! Turns out I dont have my current registration or my current insurance card. PHEW WHAMMO cop says Ive hit the jackpot!
After hastling and the cop telling me IM trying to help you out show me some older insurance cards so i know this policy is still valid! Im like I doubt i have any on that policy but i have many of my old new york ones which are many years old just to show i had the car for a while and it was insured. Hes like ima have to tow you you left me no choice. I tell him you know you have other options if your trying to help me out! I cant really afford this @ the moment. Hes like I cant do anything! I was like give me my tickets for not having the stuff on me and a warning summons which states you must bring the insurance card next day or we will take your car/suspend your license! He studders and says uh no I cant do that the car is getting towed no matter what!

Wut ever this is where the COPS SCAM COMES IN(DOUCHE BAGS), after getting towed and w8in like a half hour for my dad 2 pick me up with the paperwork, I got 2 the precinct and the same COUNTY cops are outside telling me the precinct is closed. I try 2 open the door and its really shut! So i call a 24 hour number to ask when they open(MONDAY at 8AM) and ask "i got towed today and the precinct is closed till monday I wont get charged storage fee right? I have the papers on hand to get my car but you are closed so what can I do there is some type of conflict there! They are like come in monday have your papers on hand and you can get ur release papers and get the car from the Impound but you have 2 pay storage fees for sat sun and monday!!"

Im like you guys are closed WTF so if your closed for 15 days I get charged for 15 days storage is that my fault? This is such a scam and I cant get over it!

Till monday comes I will see if they really charge me for the storage. I cant take this to court because the court date is in like a week and a half and the more days the more storage... so i have 2 pay for it b4 court where im gonna get stuck!

Well this is my worst day!

Lucky I wasnt speeding cause I got 15 pnts on my license then it woulda been MUCH WORSE! But i got over my speeding addiction and drive like an adult now(cause I have 2:laugh: or I get the suspension of a lifetime:blackeye:!

By the way if anybody is a Legal Assistant/Attorney or Officer, Please advise me what to do to play it safe cause I dont want to go in there sounding like a lunatic and demanding something and ending up in more trouble.

dont say anything..pay your fine's and be on your way. legally you shouldnt be driving your car w/no inspection...whether your on your way to the station or not:shrug: having it towed b/c of lack of insurance card's is a bit overboard...atleast up here in upstate ny. but at the same time they can look into dmv records to check on your insurance status here(no insurance here results in 8 dollar a day fine until you turn in your plates:shocked: ).
i've been in the position your in(minus the towing part) i rarely have my insurance cards on me..and sometime's no reg card's either,he really should've just given you a no inspection ticket and maybe a no proof of reg or insurance ticket........but you also have to take into consideration were you live....or better yet,what major city you live by.
 
I would still try to fight the inspection citation. Let them know that you were on your way to get it done. You can explain that the car was being worked on and that's why it was out of inspection. Work was completed and that is the only reason why you were driving the car, to get it inspected.
The Judge may give you the benefit of the doubt and dismiss that citation. The other two should be dismissed since you have proof of valid insurance and reg.

IDK about NY but in PA your registration is suspended when your insurance lapses. The officer can see that when he runs your plate number. If yours was good then it should have shown up as a valid registration.

I would get the car out of impound first thing Monday. There is no reason that you can't get the car, take it to get it inspected right away and then show proof that the inspection was done. Looks better for you.

IMO, it's worth fighting all three citations!

They normally don't tow for lack of registration/insurance cards here. Of course it the plate is run and it comes back that the registration is suspended, then it will get towed.

Im def going to fight the tickets and i actually think I may get away from them. I also have a receipt showing that I picked up the car that morning! So for the tickets they will be easily dismissed! not really worried about those.

And ya I was planning to get inspection as soon as I get the car out of the impound!

I just dont understand how they are legally allowed 2 charge me for THREE STORAGE DAYS, when they themselves didnt let me pick up the car saturday. I was at the precinct within the hour of getting towed! so since they are closed for SATURDAY and SUNDAY and I will be picking it up on MONDAY, the towing facility is going to charge me THREE DAYS STORAGE!!!! HOW GHEY!!!!:blackeye:

I was hit with the same thing. Tell the Judge you were on your way to fix it, with a receipt in hand. Mine was reduced to a parking violation.

I do have a receipt everything when everything was done! But it was a small shop that did the work and they gave me a STAPLES purchased receipt! Im thinking this may cause some type of complication or doubt in the judges decision!

What do yall think?

Well I got my car back!

IT IS INSPECTED! They charged me for TWO days of storage, Tow fee, and Processing fee since the cops were watching him do a tow ticket(like he does for normal clients). All in all I PAID $117.10, not as bad as I thought it would be!

Now I have 3 NO REG/NO INS/NO INSPECTION tickets to deal with next week in court! Wish Me luck as I am right on the dot for my swap!

Everything is workin better then I expected....

Great news!
At least you got away with only two days of storage.

As for the receipt, does it have the shop name written on it? Make sure the phone number is on there also. I don't see why you should have an issue with that receipt since the Judge can look up the shop name and even call if he is so inclined.

I'm sure the court day will be just as successful. :)

I know live in NY. I have a close friend from the Army, who is a captain on the Philly PD.

I'm on 31st Ave between Cresent and 29th st.

I hope the Judge throws out those tickets. If found guilty of driving with no insurance in NYS gets your license revoked :eek:

O I know exactly where you are!! 3 - 4 Blocks away from the park I used to play ball in and live by the housing right next to Hoyt Ave Park under those damn train tracks!

If your car comes up missing, It wasnt me!!!!:o

LMAO! No, if the car comes up missing, it could have been anyone that is reading this thread. You're getting specific with the area so...

If SVT Loki is fine with this, OK. If either of you decide to edit the posts with the streets/landmarks and can't, let me know and I will do it for you.
