Reflector FTW!

see, i dont know. i guess its just a matter of preferance cause i think the tinted reflector seems out of place and doesnt flow with the car:shrug:
to each his own i suppose:cool:

yep,i shortened the taillight 1/2" all the way around. and painted the black light molding so it all looked the same size going in to the reflector.

looks real good. it seems to work cos u painted the reflectors too. without those painted, i dont think it would look that good. i think i might have just stumbled on some inspiration here. hmmm... i'll keep y'all posted. again, nice job bagged.

Looks like a tailight cover to me. If you molded it, it would look ALOT better

I made a very convincing PS of a molded painted reflector a few years ago. Looked terrible.
It's better off painted if you want it painted - though it's not my cup.

IMO, color matched reflectors don't look that great... BUT if u were to do it, i'd get a mystique reflector, it'd look alot smoother since it doesn't have that big chrome piece on the top, just a tiny little strip on the bottom, and with it all one color would just look alot smoother IMO.

Agreed. Even just imagining it, the overall effect would look like an unfinished car. If you want to get rid of the center reflector lines, get a pre98 trunk lid. There's really no good alternative.

Depending on the car and color, a painted reflector can look amazing or awful. Personally I've never been a fan of it on T-red or T-green, but black and silver have done OK. Tinted looks fine on almost any Contour.

josh did you have the older formula that was fine without clear coat? as I recall recently it was changed and it didn't have as much shine to it, hence needing the clear coat to make it look better?

I had the old formula. It was changed at least two years ago to the crappy stuff. I did MLuko's tails with the new stuff and he cleared them.

I've been preaching about the formula change for years on the boards. ;)

My post was simply in response to his statement that nightshades NEVER looks good without clear. Never say never.
