I have to put a new oil pan gasket on my 'tour. What else should I replace internally with just the oil pan off and the motor still in? rings? pistons? Or can you only get to those from the top? Obviously rod bearings. car just rolled over 150k. Also, any recommendations on the bearings? Thanks alot. I do landscaping so im laid off right now and ungodly bored in my garage.

the oil pan gasket is about it. you can't just swap bearing and you need to tear down and inspect everything to make sure its in spec, etc ...

Which you can do with the engine in the car and the oil pan off. Before removing the old bearings, plastigage the rod and main bearing clearances. Chances are, you'll find that it hasn't really worn down by a measurable amount. Replace with a standard or undersized bearing as needed to maintain the proper oil clearance.

The only thing you can't do with the engine in the car and the heads on is the rings. And they aren't really an issue on these cars. Most go 200k and up without any significant blowby.

So yea, while the pan is dropped, I say go for it and change those bearings.
