Hey does anyone know the guy who works at the Korum Ford in Puyallup who owns a Red SVT contour? its really nice and was wondering if you could help me on some things on mine.... i came there once or twice.

Well i need some sideskirts and probubly a front bumper. also the sunroof wont open correctly.... it makes a wierd sound and wont go back... also it only goes up. The engine in my SVT has been acting a little wierd also. like at 3500 rpms the loud blurp from the engine leaves and makes a loud noise all the way through the rest of the rpms. also its not getting really any power out of the higher rpms at all. It really stuggles to get there almost.  so any ideas on that? i was thinking maybe spark plugs or MAF cloged. but iduno. :help: :help:

Well, you could check your secondaries to see if they are opening/opening all the way. That might explain the noise and lack of power from 3500 rpms (when they are supposed to open) to redline. Underneath the throttle body you will see a brass colored rod connecting both banks of secondary butterflies. Have someone in the car revving it and at 3500 you shold see it shift. It should travel about 1"-2" iirc. If it is not at all, they are probably stuck closed from the carbon build up in your intake manifold. Also, this condition usually throws a check engine light. Do you have one of those? If so go to autozone and have them scan it for free.

It sounds like the sunroof gear is jammed. My sunroof did that when I bought my car and I was able to fix it in 5 minutes. My 1/4 circle gear was out of its intended place. If you look at the passenger side of the moonroof from inside the car and study how the thing operates, you should see what needs to happen. All I used was a flathead screw driver. The motors do go out, but if yours is still able to go up chances are it is still good. Also sometimes the gears break. Anyways, check what I said and hopefully it should fix it.

So I have been checking around and some ppl say it might be the IMRC. But what your saying sounds pretty close to what they were saying. But i drive my car pretty hard and dont think that a lot f carbon would build up in it. So i duno. ill have to check it when i get time...... thanks though... but the sun roof ill defenently check it out. thanks again!:o :o :o :o :o :o :o

IMRC = Intake Manifold Runner Control. Yep same thing I'm talking about. Sometimes the IMRC goes bad which is what actually opens the secondaries. It is located under the plastic cover on the top/front of the engine. Underneath it is a little grey box with 4 bolts holding it to the front valve cover and a cable (think bicycle brake) going to the brass arm I told you about.

And even if you're driving your car hard, you will get some build-up of crud in your secondaries. Consider how all your intake valves forthe cylinders open but the secondaries' intake butterflies do not. I drove my car hard and people needed putty knives to clean gunk out of my intakes during a rebuild. Thus the interest in oil separators (in the group buy forum or DIY) to help keep the runners cleaner.

I had an IMRC problem for a while but I also developed a cooked and busting up main cat, pieces clogged my exhaust pipes such that I had NO power above 3000 rpm even when the secondaries opened. Local NW CEGer Shotwell got to drive my car while that was going on and he was amazed at how crappy my car ran. Then I got it diagnosed and fixed and he can vouch for the before and after.

Don't forget another common problem is the breakdown of the grommet that the IMRC linkage is held by. With my car, the IMRC would actuate the arm but the grommet that keep it connected to the secondary runners was gone. The arm would move, but no secondaries open:cry: The little white plastic piece (IMRC linkage gromet) is kinda spendy from Ford, but it's cheaper than a new IMRC. Let us know what you find out.

Had nothing to do with being cheap. I need my car to run. It was an interm fix that has lasted about a year now. Didn't know what they costed until 3 weeks after I used the wire. Another Ceger was replacing his and mentioned the cost.

So kinda off subject but yesterday..... the 17 I got chased home and run off the road by a truck! Fock! So i hit a mailbox and got yelled at by a guy in a bmw, becuase i passed him trying to get away from the truck! :censored::censored::censored::censored: if my car was working at full compasity i would have gottin away. but not really any damage, just a bumper scratch.
But if i see that Green old toyotta truck with front yellow lights i swear to God ill run him off the road and beat him with a tire iron!:mad::mad::mad: No lie!

Dude, why run from someone? If he hits you it's his insurance policy repainting your car, not to mention his ticket.

What prompted this guy to chase you anyway? What did you do to him?
