Okay, so I have a problem with the rear drums on my SE. When I push down the brake pedal, all is fine and dandy. But its when I let my foot off completely, there is this squeeking noise. I have a feeling its one of the springs inside the drum, but I really dont want to take it apart quite yet. I want to find out if you guys could help me out first. What are your guys' input?
Thanks

it is common for the brake shoe to stick and not fully retract when the contact point where the metal part of the shoe rubs on the brake backing plate.

Pull the drum off. Clean up the brakes with brake cleaner spray. One can should do both rear wheels. Pull the brake shoe away from the backing plate. You can't get much movement, since all the retaining parts are still in place. You might get a 1/4" or so. Just enough to clean the contact points and apply some brake grease.

Most likely that will get rid of the draging shoe noise.

I have this problem with my Mysti which has four wheel disc.:nonono: I think the one piston didnt get screwed all the way back in when I had the rear ones fixed last.

My rears squeak as well for the first 200 feet of driving or so.
