I am waiting for my new pressure reducing valve for my 98 SVT. I am wondering if anyone has replaced one, and knows how to replace it, or what the easiest method of doing so.

Thank you

Adam

Vehicles fitted with the standard braking system have pressure conscious reducing valves (PCRV's) fitted in the master cylinder outlet ports. Info exists on the Ford Service CD's I sell.

Your in-line pressure reducing valve near the rear wheel is sort of an oversized fitting. It is best to use a fitting wrench (also known as a line wrench) when removing them. Use a conventional open end wrench to confirm the size (I'm guessing about a 13 mm) before buying the tool you need. If you try to use a cheap tool or the wrong tool you will likely damage the fittings that stay behind on the other parts of the brake line. Snap-on, Mac, or Matco are preferred. Craftsman might be adequate. Harbor Freight's Pittsburg is likely will damage your fittings.

Yay! I got it installed with no problems! I had to use some WD-40 to get the fitting off, but it was easy. Easier than I had anticipated. Thanks for the help!
