Need a job...

are you just looking in the food service industry?

Last time I help you get honed!!!!

Not really Terry. I'd love a Monday thru Friday but with I really don't see myself making the money I did in the QSR industry....

I kinda wanna start something new. I just started overnights at UPS, but still want something else during the day.

when do you sleep? I've seen a lot of advertising for UPS and Fedex wanting employees, I've wanted to work at either but both are just a little too far to be working the short shifts they offer.

Yeah, Actually todays my second day at UPS, But going from $43,680 a year to $8.50 an hour for 20 hours a week isn't even going to support my drinking habits, more or less car and apartment payments...

I really wanna stay at UPS at night while looking for something during the day. I feel like UPS is a very well set up, stable company that I would love to make a career out o if given the chance, plus I can grow p to be a crnky old man like the guy with the black Evo that drives out of the Franklin Park hub.

I've been sending resumes to everyone off of Cragslist, Career Builder, Monster and Snagajob. It looks like I'm probably going to wind up back in fast food where I've been all my life, but then I lose UPS and a chance at a stable job that won't let you make enough money to fre you....

If you can stay at UPS and get a permanent fulltime job with them DO IT!! Excellent company to work for from what I have heard. No luck with Monster?

No, I don't think I've ever had much luck with Monster. Snagajob.com and Careerbuilder.com seem to have more real employers posting, not just headhunters that don't know jack about the job they're setting you up for.

I know its still food service but Yum Brands (KFC, TacoBell) seems to pay their mgmt pretty well. Some of my former clients were in management there and made 55-60k.

Or you could stay food service and just up the scale a bit to finer dining. The manager at the steakhouse I bartended at in college pulled almost 70, and that was in MI. But, then you would have to kiss custo cheeks almost daily.

Lastly, when I was in branch banking we often hired assistant managers with backgrounds in food service or other retail. The skill sets match up surprisingly well. Somewhat fast paced (depending on your office), keeping people happy, pays 40-70k depending on experience. Good bonus' available, up to 10k per quarter in my office. Downside is chicagoland banking has hours from 8-8 depending on company and it will be sales oriented with almost all incentive pay being based on achieveing (or making your subordinates achieve) expansion goals.

yes UPS of all the carriers is the most stable [wouldnt want to be at fedex now, oh boy they got some problems on the horizion].

If you get a year or 2 of experince at UPS with a desk job, We'd probably have a place for you here [we write shipping integration software].

just my 2 cents, forget monster, stick with craigslist.

I do not know what is currently open, but there is always something in a company this big.
