V6 Engine Removal

So my v6 is on it's way out, and i just purchased another used v6 for a good price...i was wondering it there were any how-to's or instructions on pulling the motor and the tools i would need...can anyone help me out?

Here is a link with some good tips. Are you lifting the engine out, with a hoist or dropping the subframe?

I'm getting ready to do the same thing. I was told by my mechanic friend that the only way is to drop it from the bottom. Gotta drop the subframe and everything to get the dang thing out. Luckily he has a lift in his garage!:laugh:

I did it out the top. No problem.

Did you pull the trans too? That's impressive to do in 4 hours.

Pm todras and get a Ford Repair CD i believe it does have everything on it and tells you all the torques and stuff. I just got it and am loving it.

yes that was engine and transmission in 4 hours. it is A LOT easier to pull the tranny with the engine than just pull the engine. it probably would have taken another hour or 2 to leave the tranny in.
