126K Miles: My clock began fading and now doesn't emit light. Can it be fixed or is it a through away?

I bought a package of 5 bulbs for my clock from my local Ford dealer less than 2 months ago, so they are still available. They came in a package of 5 - no buying just one. The part number on the package is "E5RY-13466-BA". It was ~$20 for the 5. They didn't come with the little green rubber cover, so if you like the color of the clock, don't toss your old bulb. Otherwise it'll just be yellowish numbers that are kinda bright, even in the daylight. That's what mine looks like now because the bulb was burned out when I bought both my SVTs, and the latest bulb has been misplaced - I have no idea what it looked like with the little rubber thingy. The clock face pops out - use something plastic to pry a corner gently, and has two or three little retaining clips once you disconnect it from the dash. You should be able to see how it comes apart and how to replace the bulb from there. If you have big problems pm me and I'll email you some pics. Good luck!

Sometimes you may need to remove the vent/instrument trim panel to remove the clock from behind the trim. My Mystique is like that..

Thanks for the info everyone:

I got the clock out but is it a hex head screw with a slot in it for a small screw driver holding the bulb in?

Just use a small flat blade screwdriver (the ones for computers or eyeglasses).

I got the bulb socket out of the clock. The bulb had a green cover on it. When I tried to remove the green cover it crumbled. It was stuck to the bulb in some places. I still can't get the bulb out. What does it take, pliers?

That whole piece is the part you can buy from Ford. I took the bulb in to show them and they were able to track down the part easily.
