What is it worth, opinions needed please.....

Well if you got that car with all those mods for $2K it looks like I'm keeping mine. While mine [I think/pretty sure] has more done it's not another 3-4K worth.....

I feel 'violated' now that I made this thread.....

I'm not sure what to say.... You were a newB then and people wanted to welcome you to the CEG crew no matter what you paid. This car to a non-CEGr might be worth more because of your "laundry" list of mods that no one has seen yet. If you sell, good luck getting what you paid. I think people were congratulating you on you purchase of a low mileage SVT tour not knowing that it had a blown motor <--- kind of defeats the purpose of a low mileage contour anyway, don't you think....?
I think, sell the parts you don't need. Make some money towards the rebuild and get that thing on the road.

I will buy the strut bar from you so that you can start your re-build. $90, I will pick up.

Keep all the $ you make on some parts in a jar. When you are done selling what you can part with, COUNT IT UP! There might be more in there than you would have expected.

Someone ate thier Wheaties this morning.....
Joes absofugginlutely right though. Theres running SVT's going for $3000 in the classifieds here. Face it man, by the time they pay you they still have to tow it home buy and install the motor....

$1000 if bagged backs out.

Also when ppl see cars like that $ signs on top of the cost swoon about their brains. Anyone with 1/2 a brain is going to have the trans. rebuilt and have a Quaife put in. You're looking at around $1500 just to do the trans. right. If I bought a car like that I'd need $3400 bare minimum set aside to build that car properly and do it justice. Not going to be so great when the trans. goes shortly after installing a new 3L.

$1000 engine
$1500 trans
$300 clutch
$600 tune

Then after you go sinking that much $ you better plan on keeping the car for a long time. Take your car for instance. You paid 6k and now you'd need another $3400 to get it built right. You're then nearing 10k for a Contour that when finished is worth about 5-6k to the right person. And hopefully you can even find the right person.

Well MFSOAB!!!, I just wrote an entire list of parts that I was going to reply with, and I mean a page of stuff. Then, right as I am ready to send it I hit something I shouldn't have and deleted the whole F-ing thing.....

I don't have the time right now [again] so I'll have to get back with it tomorrow night. I do appreciate the continued opinions, whether good or bad.....

Realistically I think he can get away much cheaper. the trans is not necessarily going to reach 1500, if his parts are in good condition, replacing the syncros and adding in a diff... Take it to liberty gears its possibly to be out at or under 1000. Additionally he's local to Michigan, he could get tuned for about 400-500 less than 600 bucks ;)

bottom line is the mods list doesnt even matter
i pretty much know what the car has done to it
if your looking to get 6k for it its not gonna happen unless the car runs and runs real good at that
i cant beleive you paid that much for a non running car . not to be a dik but you got stroked your best bet is to just keep it
i would never pay more than 2k for it. and im willing to bet 2k thats the best offer you will get
sure you could prob. get more if you part it out but then your gonna sit on it forever
and its a lot of work to part out and your still stuck with shell disposal

Umm did you miss my other class on Contour 101? Take everything and times it by 2. You even told me yourself I was right about that. I figure even if I'm high on one of those it was go into one of the others.

I wouldn't care if God had it before anyone else. Guessing bagged knows just by looking at the car like the rest of us. Brakes up front, all suspension incl. Koni's, accusump, short shifter, OMP bar, exhaust, gauges, relocated battery, pedal covers, wheels, painted UIM, intake, gay mondeo sill protectors, etc. Does it have a built trans? Because that's the only thing that would be of value.

Haha, good point. But I think 1500 is on the higher side of the equation. I know "SOME" shops like to charge out the ass for basic differential installs but you can get it done much cheaper...

Don't forget the runs to the store and all the specialty tools. i.e. allen bit for oil cooler removal. LOL!

It was just a question, and a simple NO would have worked.....

i wasnt trying to offend you. i kinda feel sorry for your situation thats why i say keep it and fix it.
it is a very nice looking svt. but you asked a honest question how much it was worth and i feel i gave an honest answer
good luck with the car:cool:

I'm guessing he'll sit on it forever and then eventually dump it for low $. Or he could bring it to me and some cash and I'll have it back up in business and we can all quit talking about it. Needs more fixing and less talking.

agreed

Well don't hold your breath becuase I just went to look at a super low mileage 3.0L today.....

I appreciate the honest opinions because those are the only ones that count....
