Brake dust issue

Does anyone have any recommendations for brake dust that is literally "baked-into" the clearcoat on the wheels? I had a slight brake fiasco a couple of years and this is the result where one of my wheels literally looks like it has not been washed in 5 years.

Is there anything I can do short of stripping everything off with muriatic acid and/or buying a new wheel?

bar keepers friend will remove baked on brake dust nicely, then follow with wax

neverdull from eagle one works wonders. give it a shot. doesnt cost too much either

You could try some stronger cleaners. Or even something like a magic eraser, or a brillo pad. May scratch up the clearcoat some, but it'll look better than the caked-on crap.

A clay bar sometimes will remove embedded brake dust that nothing else can.
