VCT delete pulley

Anyone try this? What has to be done to the PCM if you install the delete pulley?

im doing it this winter. It requires that kit and a new gear, both available from zxtuner.com. which is where im getting my parts for it.

im wondering the same thing though about the pcm. if its going to run like **** after/cause problems noticeable or just give a cel.

well it should be doing it in the next 2months or atleast getting the parts. ill definitely let everyone know how it goes/performs. But, i would like to know a little before i do it.

Based on what I've read, the VCT delete does generate a cel. Your car should run OK, but it may pull timing which means some loss of power.

The PCM will need to be tuned to 'turn off' the VCT, or you may be able to nab a pre-VCT PCM and plug n play.

i had asked them and all they said is, i would have to deal with the pcm codes. i will email them again to see if i can get a more detailed reply.

no, you'll need an adjustable cam gear to tune the cam to it's most favorable setting though.

Depending on the cam setting drivability and gas mileage are not affected that much. It's a matter of finding the sweet spot for what you're intended purpose is.

I am planning on purchasing the vct delete kit and a cam gear from you this winter. I have a question about this though. Once i install this, it will cause a CEL, until i get the codes addressed, as i understand. I would like to know will the installation of this kit, cause any problems with the drive ability, lower performance due to pcm adjustments, or low gas millage due to pcm adjustments, of the car?

If that does not make sense as to what i am looking for please ask anything.

for me its not about gains, its about removing a problem that im done with fixing.

eh im not worried about the money part, its the time and effort im done with.

it would cost me 200 dollars to fix the problem(if im correct in diagnoses), i need the upper engine harrness. Which controls or connects to: vct solenoid, fuel pressure reg., injectors, cam sensor, temp sensor, crank sensor and a few more i think. Their is a short in that harness(ground wire for cam sensor). Plus, if im wrong and i buy the harness. then i wasted 200 dollars, as i dont have money for shop fees.

so unless someone can get me that harness from a zetec contour built after 5/99(used). Then idc to fix the issue. the sensor works 1/2 the time, im thinking its a weak signal or something like that.
