Mech speedo in cable MTX

I have a whole 95 rod MTX car and I'd like to reuse the dash in my custom project. I have a 98 SVT motor and cable MTX. I'd devised a translator for the rod shift before buying the newer trans. I haven't built the shift translator yet, so I can save some fabrication if I use the 98 cable trans. I looked both speedo drive take-offs over, and it looks like it may be an easy convert to make the cable MTX a mechanical speedo for my dash, but haven't taken them apart yet.

Are there differences inside that would require internal work to use the cable trans with the mechanical speedo drive?

I got an answer elsewhere. The early mechanical speedometer takeoff mounted to the rod shift operated manual transmission can be installed onto the later, cable shift operated manual transmission.
