Well I had a very interesting discussion with my dad while at the Arlington Classic Car Swap Meet. He said he recently got a call from someone in Michigan who had bought my old 1998 SVT Contour. This person was on the phone with my dad for about 40 minutes asking him all sorts of questions about how I took care of the car, what parts I replaced...etc.

Well this is my terrible story that I still have nightmares about. I had just graduated from college and needed a house. I found one but needed a little more money for the $9,000 down payment. So I sold my SVT to a 16 year old girl and her dad. About 1 month later my friend said he saw my car on craigslist and that it had been wrecked and was going for like $1300. Someone from Michigan (I think that is what my dad said) bought the car, had it shipped, straightened the frame and repaired the wreck damage and put it back to complete stock. The guy said he was part of these forums...

If you are the owner of my old SVT....first thank you for saving my car from that stupid teeny bopper...I dont know what I was thinking selling it to her. SHE COULDN'T EVEN DRIVE A MANUAL!

Second...I would LOVE to see my old car again...I still have dreams of driving it and I would just like to see it one last time.

I never knew I could love a car so much...

Here are the images of the day I sold it:

My car was a 1998 SVT Contour Black. It had a full Koni suspension with Roush front racing springs and stock rear SVT springs. It had its build number on the front right bumper, no ding guards, SVT on the rear doors and barely tinted tail lights along with Enkei DM-5 wheels. It was a pretty slick car.

Looks like pictures of Kickaxeguitar's car. He was at EOSB where the suspension was swapped out to a softer setup

Yep...did some searching on his name and came up with this...

I bought my '98 Csvt used and the previous owner installed a Koni suspension with shorter springs, especially in the front. I assume he was a young kid looking for the "Fast and the Furious" street racer look.

I hate the bumpy ride and rediculous lack of ground clearance for the front bumper.

Wow...kinda harsh....anyways...just wondering if he posts around much?

he is around, I met the guy. Nice guy.

He bought the car for work so didnt want a stiff suspension to travel with, I regret to inform you this car is now extremly rough, been in multiple front enders, now has an SE motor with SE everything except for the UIM. Missing all of the jack point covers, is in desperate need of a detail. With a little work it could be an extremely nice car

I somehow knew that car wouldn't make it past 6 months. I joked (with a pain in my heart) that it would be in a junkyard before she turned 17....

I shoulda just kept it and bought a cheap Focus or something...what was I thinking...

Well it feels good to be back amongst my former brethren...even though I am a Mustang troll now.

Come on over to stangnet and dfwstangs if you want to see some nice ponies....I will check back later today to see if he responded...

...and guys don't make the mistake I did...keep your Contours FOREVER...they are honestly the best car on earth.

I actually attempted to purchase that car but called on it a couple days too late. It is sad to see what has become of it but hopefully it can be brought back to it's former condition.

So was it really that ricerish? I'd like to think it used to look pretty good. When I was on these forums, I often received compliments on it...maybe I was delusional?

I wish I could find my old car...dealership I traded in to said someone flew in from Minnesota or Missouri (didn't recall which) and drove her back. (Yeah, sending the car to the auction my arse!)

I keep checking the other forums to see if it comes up, but it's been a year...

Didn't look rice to me in the pictures you posted. I don't know what else would have triggered the playing of the rice card. The Mustang SVO had Koni struts from the factory -- those aren't rice.

Maybe now is the time to start a search for a new Contour SVT.

I cant say that I like the vinyl SVT graphic, but the rest is pretty standard modifications.

If wheels and a drop (hell I like em slammed) is "too fast too furious" then you might just be getting too old

I made my new wife promise me that if I bought her a nice 2 story brick home (and thus sacrificing the SVT for it) she would let me get another one some day...

So yes...I will own another one...hopefully one with a 3.0L in it...but for now my 1966 Mustang will do...tear the panties off women it will...
