This might sound like a dumb question but is the coolant temp sending unit that powers the gage send the signal to the PCM? I was adding my aftermarket gages & I broke my coolant temp sender. So I replaced it & noe my temp gage shows high readings as soon as it gets up to temp. I have the autometer gages that read the same as before so I haven't worried about it but now I'm wondering if I'm pulling timing due to the false reading.

There are 2 coolant temp sensors. Both are on that right-angled aluminum pipe. The one under the throttlebody is only for the gauge and can be removed if you have an aftermarket gauge. The one on the backside.. near the firewall is for the pcm. If you found one of the sensors, the other should be easy to find... they look similar.

Edit: When you're datalogging, you're only seeing the sensor for the pcm.
