I was installing my new heatshield this morning and noticed my transmission mount bushing bolt is broken off! I am talking about the large bushing located under the MAF connecting the transmission to the body. I was able to extract the bolt from the bushing, but I need to know what size bolt I need. Please help!

Are you saying that your engine/trans are now supported on only three mounting points? Don't use it that way or gamble damaging the axle joints and exhaust. I've built my own upper engine mounts for my special application, so I have originals in usable condition to give away, both sides. The belt side is brand new, the tranny side is not new. PM me if this is what you need.

If you're talking about the bolt that holds the upper and lower transmission mount together, put the top in a vise and use a large set of vise-grips on the bolt. If that doesn't work, then grind/file the end of the bolt so that a socket will fit over it. Once you get it out, replace it with a class 12.9 bolt, with a large washer and lock washer. Just bring the bolt parts to a nuts and bolts shop (not Home Depot or the like)... and ensure the washers are the highest class they have. If you use the stronger parts, you'll probably never have to go through this again.

Yes, that bolt. I was able to just lift off the bushing, thats when I noticed it was broken. I just took a pair of pliars and was able to unscrew it. I just need to know what length that ******* is...

Off hand, I'm not sure. Did you loose the head, or was it still there? Unfortunately I used my spare 12.9 set on another local CEG'er, so I don't have anything to measure. Though, with the part you removed, just hold the assembly together, and you should be able to figure out how long it should be. I'd imagine about 1 or 2 inches longer than the part you removed.

I only have about the last 1" of it, and I can't get down in there enough to get an idea of the length
