Well right now I live in Cincinnati, and I have always wanted to move back to Washington. I grew up in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. My question to any and all is what are some growing school districts in Washington, preferably on the coast or close too (coast of the sound or pacific). I'm a middle school teacher and I'm trying to get a feel for the job picture out there.

cool. i grew up in fairfield, outside cincinnati, but live outside seattle now. as for growing school districts, there are a lot of growing areas around here, not sure this is the way to ask, though.

just thought I would throw it out there. I live about 10 minutes from Fairfield off of Cross County Hwy

Wow, this post is right up my alley!

I currently live in Oak Harbor. I have since 1998, with a couple year break 2002-2003. I have three kids in school here. My oldest I send to Coupeville as she's in middle school. The younger ones go to Crescent Harbor Elem. Once they're old enough they're going to Coupeville as well.

As far as job opprotunities, this place is growing like crazy! The Navy base has added another huge squadron of EP-3 aircraft, as well as going through the transition from EA-6B to EA-18G jets. Housing is going up everywhere, and I think they're building a new school. Oak Harbor High School just got a new world class football stadium built, probably because they won the state championship last year.

Even Coupeville is growing.

As far as job prospects...I think you've a really good chance out here. I heard they were building a new school, but I don't have anything hard on that. You could try the Whidbey News Times paper online, if it exists!

I'm originally from Vancouver WA, down next to Portland OR. That place is the fastest growing city in WA, possibly behind Spokane. I visit there often. Every time I go back they seem to have further expanded east! Vancouver and Camas are almost one city now. That's definitely a place to look at too.

PM me if you want any specific information. I'll be glad to provide.

Mike

wow man thanks alot. I'm SOOOOOOOOOO excited to move back and my preference would be Oak Harbor. I grew up and went to Cresent Elementry and then OH middle school. But I love Oak Harbor, its so beautiful and I've promised myself that I would move back.

also moving to Washington

also moving to Washington

Awesome! Im moving to Washington as well. I was Born in Bremerton and hvaent been back sine. Now im being stationed up there for three years. Im actually going to live in Oak harbor as well. Do you guys know how to do the mod for the Custom cougars cold air intake? I have the parts and the hole drilled already, i just hvae no idea where to put my fuse box to get the pipes in there :)

maybe you can actually teach people in WA, the education there is pretty bad in most places. Funny how almost all my graduating friends got told by universities to go to a 2 year college then reapply. haha poor *******s.

Hmm wow I didnt know that. I mean I went to ele and junior high in Oak Harbor and I thought the schools were amazing. But that is a town that has alot of military influence in which I dont believe the schools have issues with funding and academics, etc. But I do hope to make an impact as hopefully every teacher would. I'm seriously COUNTING the day until I move back to Washington. I miss it soooooo bad. People are so much nicer there than in Cincinnati, and its just beautiful everywhere you go. You guys are really lucky! :D
