Inner Tire Rod replacement

Hello all, has anyone had experience with replacing the passenger inner tire rod? Our mechanic said it'll take about 4 hours to do, and his labor cost is pretty high.. But I wanted to see if anyone has replaced theirs before. Thanks

It is not an easy job. It requires a special tool to reach in. On some cars, the rack needs to be removed for access unless you have that tool. Even with the tool, sometimes the rack must be lowered part way for access. Even with the special tool it probably isn't a job you would want to tackle without experience or at least great mechanical aptitude.

Most any of the mobile tool dealers (Snap-On, MAC, MATCO, Cornwall) have the tool. Some better parts stores sell them. You can probably find it on-line as well.
