Lifting eng/trnas out!

Started pulling the engine and trans out from the top today to replace the slipping auto transmission.

Have a question for those that have done this in the past. Do I need to remove the radiator to get enough space to lift the engine/trans out? I already removed everything from the top, including the coil pack and it looks like it might or might not be enough to squeeze it out, but would like to know before start lifting it.

Tomorrow the axles are coming out, the exhaust is getting disconnected and the AC compressor is being removed from the block. Then all it’s left are probably draining the coolant and removing the coolant lines from the top of the trans.

I removed mine, not worth accidently pokeing a hole in it. I also removed the screws that hold the accumulator to the frame. The A/C line that runs over to the compressor needs as much play as possible, for clearance from the exhaust manifold as you are pulling it. Leave the dip stick out of the tube also, I broke mine during the reinstallation.

Thanks! Sounds like it will be a fairly simple and straight forward pull.

The accumulator is the same as a drier, right? Located on the front driver corner of the sub frame. This was already loose. The previous owner's last mechanic (Ford Dealer) left all the 3 screw out for some reason.

can u get some pictures of what u did when u take it off please, because im soon gonna do this when ive got all my bits together, it would be really helpful on this site for me and others :)

Sure no problem but you want pics of the removal or the engine/trans or the removal of the accumulator/dryer?

Except for the coolant lines, everything else is already removed or disconnected. The rest will be done after I'm back from vacation (2 weeks from today). There is no sense pulling the engie out and then let it sit for a week while I'm away on vacation.

the pics of the removal of the engine and trans, is it easyish to do, im quite good with takin bits apart, im gonna need to do this soon as im rebuilting another v6 engine and gettin it ready for either a turbo kit or supercharger kit, so pics of what was needed to pull off or how easy hard it was to take off the engine and did u take it out from the top or bottom of the car, any info and pics appreciated buddy thank you :)
